Great setting for a football tournament! Nice pitches and great facilities - really enjoyed the weekend there.
A beautiful sports complex that continues to grow with the community. We have been coming here for years. We even were able to watch them build it for the World Cup practices. The fields are well maintained and always active.
Restrooms are available.
This review is to raise awareness. Austin-Tindall is NOT a county park. So it's not managed by the county. Hence the parking fees.
The parking staff are volunteers. Most likely parents from whatever tournament is being played. The $5 parking fee is collected by them but set by the facility (that information is on their website).
You can tell that whoever built this place had no idea what soccer is and what it requires. Who builds a soccer field in the middle of a swamp?
So, as a result of that, when it's dry season the fields are too dry, even it's wet season (most of the time in Florida) the fields are muddy, soggy.
Whoever tells you this is a nice facility was lucky to go there a nice day, or is a parent who never played soccer and has no idea. Yet, the field is acceptable. If you think this is bad, there are professional teams overseas who play in fields that are the same. Just to get some perspective.
On the other hand, all these players pay their clubs to play, right? And mind you, it's not cheap. I feel sorry for parents who have multiple children playing. Considering the investment, the teams could absorb the fees. But that would cut into their profits, and most clubs are money mills. A notable exception is Florida Rush. That's a real soccer club. Lake Nona, and all the other wannabes, don't waste your time. If you wanna overpay, go to Orlando City. Just don't expect that years of investment would guarantee your player would go into the MLS.
If the clubs would care, they would work with facilities such as this one. They would work together for their respective leagues. I guarantee you most coaches around are not even U.S. Soccer Certified.
We have made a lot of progress in soccer in our country. But, if your son/daughter is into the sport, and not just having a phase, sad If you really care, then getting involved is a must. And I'm not talking about listening to the mostly ignorant and money-driven people who manage the typical club.
That would of course be more than what the average parent is willing to afford in terms of involvement.
But it would be the right thing to do. U til that's done, collectively, soccer fans and players, their families, are going to continue spending their hard-earned money for a return that does not justify their investment
Finally, set your feelings aside. We all criticize the referees' calls. Part of the game. And yes, there are good referees and bad referees. The same can be said about players, parents, clubs, club managers, coaches, etc.
The difference with the referees is that they actually are certified and trained. They are part of a statewide association. Which follows standards that are both national and international. The average referee has more knowledge and is more involved than the average parent, player, coach, or club manager. Some of them wouldn't know what professional soccer is if it would be staring them in the face. And I'm not talking American soccer, which would be B tier in most countries with a decent soccer history, tradition, and pedigree.
The moral: learn before you speak.
And if you are just a parent cheering your kid, be loud, make your voice heard. After all, you are the only one who is truly picking up the tab here!
4.5 ⭐ Very well kept Sports complex! Well lighted at night so that game play can continue without interruption. Lavatories are clean clean and well stocked. Consession stands had your typical overpriced foods but they all appeared to a hit with athletes and spectators alike. (I did not partake) More than ample parking made this an all around good experience. Unfortunately, a player had to be medevac'd out but by the Grace of God he was on the sidelines two days later. Not playing but cheering on his team.
It’s a good place, with great location and a lot of potential. Unfortunately the lack management and organization is visible. The employees directing the traffic at the time of events is not capable of make any sense on what are they doing. They would be more effective if they designate areas depending on the aport you are there for. Today was a total mess and one of the oldest man working today decided to knock my car not once but twice with his ring. He was super angry and blamed me because I was not hearing to him… OF COURSE I WASN’T because I had my windows up. Lack of sense and lack of training and the worst is the lack if management. I am paying the $5 parking and will not allowed any employee to damage my car because he decided to scream and knock with his ring to my car. This is not acceptable! place has potencial but they need to work with sense and train the employees.
Had a tournament there not long ago, place needs a touch up , the limes on the fields are barely noticeable, the grass needs attention and there's a lot of uneven areas on the field making it dangerous for the players. Prices on the concession Stan where responsible considering the place surrounding areas are ok, parking is ok as well.
Great sports complex with organized parking, activities, and event coordination. The concessions stand had real food foe breakfast and lunch. Great fields and well maintained.
Great place for soccer! I won my tournament here!
